The D2C haircare startup Arata has raised $4 million, or roughly INR 34 crore, in a Series A fundraising round led by Unilever Ventures. BOLD, L’Oréal’s venture capital division, and Skywalker Family Office, an existing investor, also participated.
The business intends to use the additional funding for customer research, product development, and distribution channel expansion.

“We will continue to invest in innovation, consumer research, and distribution across our website, quick-commerce platforms, and marketplaces to build India’s most loved hair beauty brand,” co-founders said.
The company caters to a variety of demands, such as hair development, dandruff management, styling, and upkeep for curly, wavy, and straight hair.
