Kolkata Semiconductor Plant To Be Built By US And India

During their meeting, US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about a number of issues, including the MQ-9B Predator drone deal and the establishment of a semiconductor fabrication plant in Kolkata with an emphasis on next-generation telecommunications, green energy applications, and advanced sensing, communication, and power electronics for national security.

According to a White House statement, this agreement will be set up with the goal of producing silicon carbide, infrared, and gallium nitride semiconductors. It will be made possible by funding from the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) in addition to a strategic technology collaboration between Bharat Semi, 3rdiTech, and the US Space Force.

The bilateral discussions between the presidents took place outside of the Quad Summit.

PM Modi and President Biden reaffirmed the broad global and strategic alliance between the United States and India, within which they jointly mapped out a number of technology partnership initiatives.
