Shortly after a significant fire started at the Tata Electronics iPhone plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, officials announced that production would be permanently halted at the site in an effort to limit additional damage from the fire.

District fire officer M Velu told Reuters, “We have stationed fire engines at the plant as there is chances of a follow-up fire incident or smoke coming off when the sheds that had fallen during the accident are removed.”

The company, which produces essential back panels and other parts for iPhones, was getting ready to assemble iPhones in a different structure before the year was over. It’s unclear yet if the fire has had an effect on it.
