Pixxel Secures NASA Contract For Hyperspectral Earth Data

Pixxel, a Bengaluru-based spacetech business, has won a new contract from NASA to supply hyperspectral Earth observation data to the space agency and the US government.

Pixxel announced in a statement that it has been given the contract under NASA’s commercial smallsat data collecting program, which is valued at $476 million. The agreement is good through November 2028.

With Pixel, NASA will be able to obtain real-time insights on a variety of topics, including resource management, biodiversity, agriculture, and climate change, over hundreds of tiny wavelengths.

Pixxel, a company founded in 2018 by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal, is constructing a constellation of hyperspectral earth imaging satellites to identify, track, and forecast important worldwide phenomena in a variety of industries, including mining, agriculture, and the environment.
