Google India Introduces AI-Powered Map Summaries, Improved Fraud Protection, and Other Features

At its annual “Google For India” event on October 3, the internet giant Google introduced a number of new features, including gold-backed loans and a “enhanced fraud protection” function, as well as AI-powered summaries on Maps.

In an attempt to stop the worrying surge in financial scams and frauds brought on by the country’s boom in digital payments, Google will soon launch a more advanced fraud protection function called “Google Play Protect” in India.

By automatically blocking the download of dangerous third-party apps from outside the Play Store, the new feature will stop con artists from obtaining private user data, including bank account credentials and personally identifying information.

Android’s built-in app security system, Google Play Protect, has already stopped scams totaling over INR 13,000 Cr and raised red flags for around 41 Mn fraudulent transactions in.
