Titan Capital, a seed-stage investor founded by Snapdeal cofounders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, has successfully secured Rs 200 crore for a new fund to support its existing portfolio firms. This fund, known as the Titan funding Winners Fund, is the first time the Gurugram-based firm has raised external funding, having previously relied on founders’ financing.
Bahl and Bansal, who are the fund’s largest limited partners, have received support from notable family offices, top executives, and venture capital industry leaders. The fund also provides for an optional greenshoe, and a few more limited partners are likely to participate.
Titan Capital is known for making early-stage investments in businesses. With the freshly raised funds, the firm intends to provide more substantial support to the founders of its portfolio firms during following investment rounds, thereby strengthening its relationships with these initiatives. Since its founding in 2011, Titan Capital has invested in over 250 businesses, including well-known startups such as Urban Company, MamaEarth, OfBusiness, Razor, Unicommerce, and Ola Cabs.
More recent exits include one from Titan Capital’s portfolio business Urban business, a brokerage platform for at-home services, which returned roughly 200 times its invested capital. An early investor in the firm, it put Rs 57 lakh in Urban Company in 2015 and exited with a total of Rs 111 crore.
Titan Capital raised up to Rs 78 crore during MamaEarth’s IPO with parent company Honasa Consumer and now owns around Rs 80 crore in the Gurugram-based omnichannel retailer. Bahl and Bansal have committed to reinvest all of their MamaEarth IPO proceeds in new innovative ventures.
